NEWS: Uncharted: Golden Abyss English Language Support

For those unable to wait till next February to get their hands on the PlayStation Vita there’s some good news in regards to what is sure to be one of the most anticipated titles on the handheld. It’s been confirmed that Uncharted: Golden Abyss will have some form of English language support though at this stage it’s not clear if this refers to n English audio track or simply English subtitles.

Released in Japan this coming December 17 the Vita will arrives just in time for Christmas for those luck enough to be importing. Everyone else will be able to get their hands on one in February of the coming year when it’s launched over here.

NEWS: No PsOne Compatibilty for Vita Launch

One of the Vita’s most alluring aspects was the promise of being able to play many classic PsOne titles upon the handhelds launch but it has been confirmed that PsOne compatibility will not in face be available when the console launches here on February 22.

Expect an announcement regarding the availability of PsOne content sometime after the Japanese launch on December 17.

NEWS: Uncharted 3 Patch Live

The latest patch for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is now available fixes a number of issues that gamers have had with the title.

Single Player Updates
Movie cutscene viewer added (in the Bonuses menu)
Fixed the missing Motion Blur effects
“Alternate Aim Settings” added to the Options menu under Camera options

Multiplayer Updates

Settings bug fixed: all controls being set to flipped mode setting will no longer change all controls back to default
Medal streaks won’t reset if the host migrates to another user
Blindfire targeting adjusted so that opposing players past a certain vertical angle above and below won’t be hit.
Allow grenade throw while scoped
Tuned Pull Down range from 1.5 meters to 2.0 meters
Lowered the player running speed when players run ‘n gun by approximately 15%
Slightly increased the turn radius of run ‘n gun
Slightly decreased the turning speed during Sprint
Objective points have been moved from co-ooperative to the competitive tab in the in-game player stats
Fixed an infrequent hunter spawning issue in Hunter Arena when the match round switches
Fixed several cinema crashes
Locked fast-forwarding on convoy sequence in Airstrip TDM and train sequence on London Underground TDM to 3x maximum in Cinema Mode
Fixed certain cameras in Kick Offs and Pull Downs
Fixed a late join skin bug with locked content
Fixed a split-screen Buddy treasure pickup bug
Fixed duplicate medal problem causing bad tabulation of a few medals to the player’s career stats
Objective points now show up in the player’s Competitive statistics tab instead of the Cooperative statistics tab
Added a Facebook Sign Out option
Added the Add Friend functionality in the Facebook tab
Fixed voice icon for mics not appearing in Matchmaking lobby
Adding missing weapon stats tracking for certain weapons that were not being recorded to the player stats
Fix for not displaying the entire Online ID within the “Players” column of any leaderboard
Fix for a user having an online ID containing fifteen or more characters created in uppercase format and actively using a voice comm device
Matchmaking now waits for double the number of players in the biggest party in the room to be present before starting a game (to prevent parties from being split frequently)
Players no longer able to join party that is already in Matchmaking

NEWS: Report: Skyrim PS3 Patch Out Now

Bethesda have today released a patch for Skyrim on the PS3 which will solve many of the issues that gamers have been complaining about since it’s release.

The 92MB patch will solve several key issues, improve the frame rate and drastically reduce the number of freezes which have plagued the game.

That said there are reports that the patch isn’t all it’s cracked up to be with many gamers reporting that they still need to restart the game every few hours as the game still freezes.

The Xbox 360 patch is scheduled for release next week.

NEWS: Kinect for Windows Uses new Kinect

Microsoft’s Kinect for Windows programe will utilize a new version of the Kinect camera which has been designed specifically for Windows. The new design includes a shorted USB cable and a smaller USB dongle to make it better at sharing space.

NEWS: GTA V Leaks

Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently being developed for PS3, Xbox360 and PC and while only officially confirmed a few weeks back all ready we have what appears to be leaked information regarding the final game.

Read on for some of the most interesting aspects leaked but be warned that it does contain some spoilers.

• The lead playable character will be African-American in his early 30s.

• Animation for diving, crawling and climbing (which will be used required more in GTA 5) will become more realistic with less lag and the shooting mechanism has also been vastly improved with new animation for the ammo display.

• There will be no “dating” in the game and much of the inter-person contact and mission details will be delivered by mobile phone.

• Animals will be included in the games environment

• Planes can be hijacked and flown into buildings

• New interior environments include a shopping mall, college campus, police station a hospital and a massive network of underground sewers. One mission will end with a jet-ski chase and a waterfall leap.

• Cars will need refuelling in GTA 5 and can also be repaired and upgraded.

• Flamethrowers, remote mines, laser trip wires and claymores are included in the weapons arsenal and it will be possible to use a variety of everyday objects as weapons. This also includes a selection of ancient weaponry from the new museum setting – such as swords and axes!

• Mini-games including bowling and darts have been dropped, but basketball and weight training are included to built stamina. The game will also allow a player to arm wrestling and cage fighting amongst other physical competitions
• Players can now shoot out a fuel line or fire at a trail of gasoline to cause a vehicle to explode.

• Rain fall and sunshine will affect game play with more realism than in previous GTA games.

• Characters are limitedly customisable with clothing and body weight options. Character race, age and height cannot be altered.

• Burglaries will now only be part of missions and won’t include neighbourhood houses.

• GTA 5 will allow you to use members of the public as human shields.

• No more super cops. Police will now employ tears gas, dogs, rams and riot gear, but killing someone won’t instantly get you the one star, meaning much more realistic pursuits.

• Doors of building will be lockable, and objects can be used to block and barricade the way into buildings.

• Experience in certain vehicles (regularly using a motorbike for instance) will better your control as the game progresses. This also applies with player’s weapon skills.

• Some weapons will be customizable or home-made.

• An iconic GTA character will return in one mission and will need to be busted out of the ‘joint’.

NEWS: Assassin’s Creed Revelations DLC Available December 13

The first DLC for the recently released Assassin’s Creed Revelations will be available on December 13 on Xbox Live and on the PlayStation Network the following day.

November 16, 2011 – Today Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Revelations will feature downloadable content following the game’s release, starting with The Ancestors Character Pack in December. The first new downloadable content features four new multiplayer characters: the swashbuckling Privateer, the devious siren Corsair, the battle-tested Brigand and the bloodthirsty Gladiator. Each character is personalized with unique taunts, weapons and stylized assassination moves.

The Ancestors Character Pack will be available for download on December 13, 2011 on XBOX LIVE® and December 14, 2011 on the PlayStation®Network. The DLC will be made available for 320 Microsoft points.

NEWS: Skyrim Patch in Development

Most gamers have for the past few days been investing every waking hour into the epic journey that is Bethesda’s truly exceptional Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and as such have no doubt discovered a number of bugs.

In typical gamers style they have made their feelings regarding these bugs known and in response Pete Hines the PR head of Bethesda announced “We are continuing to work on an update for all platforms to address issues any bugs and [performance] issues we can. Patches/updates take a little time. We can’t turn it around quite that fast. It’s been three days. Calm down. We’re working on it.”
