In an interview with Eurogamer. Konami producer Dave Cox confirmed rumors that the upcoming sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will not be released on the Wii U.
According to Cox the decision was taken due to publisher not having the resources to create the necessary position at developer Mercury Steam. Cox states that “The reason why we are developing it on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 is simply because that’s the amount of people we got. If we want to do a Wii U conversion, that’s another 20 people. We just don’t have the resources or the budget to do it.”
Cox went on to point out the decision was not due to lack of interest but rather that developing for anew platform was costly and atm they were simply not in a position to do so. He also went on to point out that currently, developers “the Mercury Steam office is at breaking point right now. It’s rammed, they bought the office for 60 people, and there are 110 now. People are sitting on each other’s laps almost. It’s all these kind of logistical issues about the development.”
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be released on Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3. A 3DS title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate will be released on March 5 for which a demo is now available through the 3DS store.
