How We Research
Every guide on Games Toaster starts with one question: will this oven work for the person who is shopping for it? That means your counter space, how many people you cook for and what you cook most.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with your kitchen
A single cook with a tight counter needs a different oven than a family of five. A small flip-up model and a 26-quart French door oven solve different problems.
We look at the outside size, the inside capacity and the pans each oven takes. When your space limits the choice, we say what to measure first.
2. We compare specs and features
We check capacity, wattage, the number of cooking functions, rack count, door style and control type (dial, buttons or touchscreen). We also look at what comes in the box, like an air fry basket, a rotisserie kit or a crumb tray.
Makers describe their ovens in their own words, so we name the brand for every claim. We also note the warranty terms the maker lists.
3. We look at buyer feedback
We read through what buyers report after using an oven. We look for patterns, like uneven browning, loud fans, hard-to-clean interiors, door problems and controls that are hard to read.
One angry review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. An oven that is great for a family may score lower in a guide written for a small apartment.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages up to date
Models change, and some disappear from stores. Makers sell near-identical ovens under close names, so we check each model number and what comes in the box, and we only link new units.
We skip unknown brands with no track record and any oven with a known recall. When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have used every oven we cover.
A countertop oven gets very hot. We don't call any oven safe, and we label maker claims as the maker's claims.
Follow the manual for clearance, cookware and care.
